From threads I've read previously I see I'll need around 3L of 75W80 GL5 transmission oil and FUCHS seem to be the best recommended brand. This is a typical starter motor fault. Either inside the motor, or insufficient electrical power. The shrieking noise is either the starter teeth not engaged with flywheel, or the starter motor itself, possibly tight bearings. When you turn ign key, power is fed to the solenoid on top of the starter. The Active Sport was a sporty looking version of the grande punto. It gave sporty looks without the sportyness of the hot hatch range but at affordable price. My old 2007 model had better interior, leather steering wheel, body kit, fog lamps, rear spoiler, alloys etc, it did look the part.
